JAMMU, May 6: Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) staged 155th Musical Play “Kanyadaan” in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production and ESRM today. The play was written, produced and directed by BLSKS chairman M L Dogra.
The programe was inaugurated by the chief guest V K Magotra, while the guests of honour were Dr A C Bhagat, Madan Lal Kalotra, Raj Kumar Bhat, and J K Raina. Madan Lal Kalotra highlighted the “Ladli Scheme” of Central Government and that aim of the Scheme is that to alter the position of the girl child in the family and public. It also aims at modifying people’s mindsets for taking appropriate care of the girl child and offer the girls their birth rights. Daughters are taking more care in the present society as compared with boys. The ritual of Kanyadaan is ripe with deep religious symbolisms. The groom is considered a representation of Lord Vishnu all through the wedding, and during Kanyadaan the parents are offering their daughter, a considerable piece of their existence, which is considered to be the greatest offering one can present to the Supreme Being and it is believed that upon Kanyadaan the parents of the bride are absolved of all their earthly sins, and are said to attain moksha, relief from the cycle of birth, death and rebirth.
Welcoming the dignitaries K K Joshi (Vice Chairman, BLSKS) said the Kanyadaan is one indispensible ritual during a Hindu wedding.
The programme commenced with welcome song presented by the artists of BLSKS and lighting of traditional lamp by the chief guest and guests of honour. The music was composed by Raju Bajgal.
The singers, musician, actors and students of music and computer institute who performed in the musical play were, BLSKS general secretary M C Kotwal, Hem Raj, Parul Sharma, Renu Saproo, Dhruv Pandit, Ritesh Magotra, Deevam Jandiyal, Krishna, Shan Khan, Mohd Afroz, Sahil, Soyam, Sakshi, Nitin, Sunil Kumar, Sonu Gupta, Ananya, Himika, Ujwal Sharama, Rakshit Sharma and many others. Master Deepak Kumar presented vote of thanks.
