Dress code for NEET exam: 4 teachers suspended in Kerala

KANNUR:  The Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) authorities has suspended four teachers of a private school at Kunhimangalam near Payyanur, following the controversy when a teenage girl student of Cheruvathur in Kasargod was forced to remove the inner wear with metal hooks for attending National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) exam, to abide by the dress code, on May 7.

Police also registered a case following the complaint of girl of Cheruvathur and women police took the statement from the girl in this incident.

The four school teachers,  Sheeja, Shafeena, Bindhu and Shahina, who are appeared as lady invigilators in TISK English medium school at Kovvapuram and a nearby school of the same management are suspended for one month on the basis of preliminary inquiry, following the involvement in the incident.

The CBSE authorities, who conducted the NEET exam across the country, said the Kannur incident is unfortunate. CBSE also advised the principal of TISK school to tender an unconditional apology to the victim.   The said girl, who reached the exam center in the morning around 0900 hrs and while passing through the metal detector, went off “bib”sound due to steel buckles of the brazier (inner wear).

Following this lady invigilators, who are in duty of checking compel to remove the inner wear.She remove it and pass the inner wear to her mother, who accompanied her.

The State Human rights, Child rights, and women rights commission also took case in this regard and asked to CBSE Regional Director and Kannur District Police Chief to inquire the incidents and report within three weeks.

The SFI and DYFI also organized protest marches to TISK school in the morning and police blocked the march nearby the school premises.  (AGENCIES)
