Two killed, 7 injured in road accident

DODA, May 10: Two persons were killed while seven others were injured when a speeding Sumo bearing registration number JK04-7864 skidded off the road and plunged into a deep gorge at Sui Gwari.
“The mishap occurred tonight at about 8.30 pm when the Sumo was on its way from Pul Doda to Prem Nagar”, a spokesman said, adding, nine passengers of the Sumo sustained injuries, two of them serious. He said that on getting information police and locals rushed to the spot and started rescue operation.
He said that all the injured were shifted either to District Hospital Doda or Army Hospital Sui Gwari. However, two persons succumbed to their injuries in the hospital. One of them was identified as Mohinder Singh (28) son of Madhu Ram, resident of Dhara and while another deceased could not be indentified till the last reports came in.
Other seven injured persons were identified as Kamaljeet (28) son of Madan Lal, resident of Dhara, Surjit Singh (20) son of Romesh Kumar, resident of Mohalla, Surinder Singh (35) son of Krishan Lal, Bihari Lal (50) of Dhara, Ram Parsad (18) son of Jagdish Raj of Mohalla, Suresh Kumar (31) son of Hakem Singh, resident of Shiva and Vishal (22) son of Swami Raj, resident of Panshie.
The Doda police had registered a case in this connection and started investigations while body of the deceased persons were shifted to mortuary of the hospital for post mortem.
