REASI, May 17: Police today foiled an attempt of liquor smuggling to holy town Katra and arrested a bootlegger. 47 pouches of illicit liquor were seized from his possession.
A police party, led by SHO Reasi, was on naka duty at Simbal Choa when they noticed that a minibus on way from Reasi to Katra was stopped about 200 meters behind the naka and one person got down from the vehicle. The said person was carrying a white polythene bag and had been trying to hide himself from police party.
On finding this suspicious movement, Police chased the said person and caught him. During search, 47 poly pouches of JK Excise Whisky, 250 ml each, were recovered from his possession.
The accused was identified as Sanjay Singh of Bhabber, Reasi. A case FIR no.90/2017 u/s 48A Excise Act has been registered in this connection at Police Station Reasi.
