JAMMU, May 17: Inter-Zonal District Level Competition of District Jammu in the sports disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball Under-14 and Under-17 Girls got underway today here at GHS Satwari Cantt and GHSS Domana.
In all, 500 girl student players drawn from all the zones of District Jammu are taking part in the competition.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports and under the supervision of Sukhdev Raj Sharma, DYSSO Jammu.
Earlier, the competitions at GHSS Domana were declared open by Subash Sharma, Social Activist in presence of Sardana Sharma, Principal GHSS Domana.
At GHS Satwari Cantt., the competitions were declared open by Sukhdav Raj Sharma in presence of all the ZPEOs of District Jammu in a simple and well attended function.
At GHS Satwari Cantt, in Kabaddi Undere-17 Girls, Satwari Zone beat Bishnah Zone by 30-29 points; Miran Sahib defeated Arnia Zone by 24-15 points;
Gandhi Nagar got better of RS Pura by 28-07 points: while in Kabaddi Under-14 Girls semifinal, Satwari Zone beat RS Pura Zone by 34-25 points and Bishnah outplayed Miran Sahib by 39-24 points.
In Kho-Kho Under 17 Girls, Satwari trounced Arnia Zone by 4-1 points, RSPura prevailed over Bishnah by 4-0 points; Gandhi Nagar defeated Miran Sahib by 5-4 points, while in Kho-Kho Under-14 Girls, Miran Sahib got better of Satwari by 8-4 points.
In Volleyball Under-14 Girls Final, Gandhi Nagar zone beat Satwari zone by 2-0 sets, while in Volleyball Under-17 Girls Final, Gandhi Nagar zone beat Satwari zone by 2-0 sets.
At GHSS Domana, in Kabaddi Under-17 Girls, Khour Zone beat Marh Zone by 36-17 points; Dansal outclassed Bhalwal zone by 28-10 points; Akhnoor zone beat Chowki Choura by 34-08 points, while in Kho-Kho Under-14 Girls, Marh Zone beat Chowki Choura by 3-0 points; Akhnoor zone drubbed Khour by 5-2 points and Jourian Zone trounced Dansal zone by 5-4.
In Kabaddi Under-14 Girls, Chowki Choura Zone beat Jourian by 27-17 points and Akhnoor zone drubbed Marh zone by 31-27 points, while in Volleyball Under-17 Girls, Chowki Chowra zone beat Khour zone by 2-1 sets and in Volleyball Under-14 Girls Final, Marh Zone defeated Bhalwal Zone by 2-1 sets.
Meanwhile, a 3-day Zonal Level Inter School Tournament organised by Department of Youth Services and Sports concluded here today
About 250 students boys/girls participated in the disciplines of Volley Ball, Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Wrestling, Athletic, Badminton and Chess in the age group of under U/14 and U/17.
In U/14 category, Girls of City Middle school Doda won the title in kho-kho as well as in Kabbadi, whereas in Volley ball GHS Ban Doda won the final.
In U/17 Category kho-kho match, Govt HSS Boys Doda won the final in boys category and Govt HSS girls Doda was declared winner under girls category. The final of boys Kabaddi Match was won by Iqra Model Academy Doda.
