RAMBAN, May 18: The IRP 9th Battalion Ramban of Armed Wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police today initiated the second phase of Civic Action Programme (CAP) in Tehsil Banihal.
Police distributed track-suites and shoes among the orphan school children drawn from across the whole tehsil Banihal.
The programme was organized in the premises of Government Higher Secondary School Banihal under the supervision of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abrar Chowdhary, Commandant IRP 9th Battalion. The ZEO Banihal Kuldeep Kumar Raina was the chief guest and the Principal Government Higher Secondary School Banihal Kewal Krishan Kanethia was the guest of honour.
A total of thirty two schools of tehsil Banihal with over two hundred orphan children, their guardians and teachers participated in the programme.
Various prominent dignitaries spoke on the occasion including Principal Higher Secondary School Banihal, ZEO Banihal and Chairman Gulshan-e-Iftal Yateem Foundation Abdul Gaffar.
ZEO Banihal said that such programmes are highly useful in rendering help to the society and ensuring better police public relations.
Speaking on the occasion SSP Abrar Chowdhary, Commandant IRP 9th Battalion asserted that police is always sensitive to the hardships of whole society and the orphan children are no exception to that.
He cautioned the gathering about the nefarious and inhuman designs of the anti-national and anti-social elements.
Among others present were Mansoor Banihali Retd Principal, author and poet, Mohammad Majed, Tariq Wanni, police officials and officers, lecturers, teachers and prominent persons of Banihal town and rural areas.
