JAMMU, May 18: The engineers from Power Development Department (PDD) today condemned the suspension of two Junior Engineers of the department and demanded that orders by revoked.
An emergency meeting of Junior Engineers of Power Development Department was held today at PDD complex Gladni Jammu in view of the hasty suspension of two Junior Engineers by Chief Engineer EM&RE Kashmir on the pretext that street lights in the Civil Secretariat Complex and some areas of Srinagar city were found on at 6.30 pm.
The Forum members strongly resented and condemned the action of the Chief Engineer. It is pertinent to mention that the street lights were being repaired throughout the day for the past few days and all men and machinery was engaged on war footing to rectify the faulty street lights.
The Chief Engineer along with the Commissioner/ Secy during the visit found that the street lights were on and without calling any explanation for the same, ordered the suspension of Junior Engineers which is nothing short of a draconian approach on part of the higher officers. The Forum asked the officers concerned to revoke the unsubstantiated suspension on immediate basis otherwise they will be forced to go on mass casual leave.
As a right of expression of resentment, the Junior Engineers have decided to stop all official communication to the officers on immediate basis through any medium and absolute non- cooperation without affecting the power supply as a first resort.
