JMC launches campaign against polythene carry bags

JAMMU, May 20:  On the instruction of   Commissioner Municipal Corporation Jammu,  M Raju, under the supervision of RS Jamwal,  Joint Commissioner (A),  the JMc has launched special campaign against use of polythene carry bags and clean Jammu from today.
While continuing the drive, the enforcement  staff of the JMC led by  Chief Enforcement  Officer under took a drive against the use of polythene carry bag and allied material.  During the drive, the  team inspected the shops and other outlets and seized the polythene carry bags and allied material in the areas of Bhagwati Nagar, Talab Tillo, Akhnoor Road and imposed a fine of Rs 13,300 on the defaulters on the spot.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Government vide notification SRO 45 dated 03.02.2017, has imposed ban on the manufacture, stocking distribution, sale and use of polythene carry bags, plastic sheets, cover made of plastic sheets, plastic packaging and multilayered packaging less than fifty microns in thickness within the territorial limits of the J&K State.
Meanwhile, the JMC  is organising online Swachh Jammu public opinion poll in which citizens of Jammu city will participate online through Jammu Municipal Official Website i.e. www.jmcjammu.org and through mobile application of Jammu Municipal Corporation, available in Google and Apple Play store. The citizens will rate their respective wards on the basis of cleanliness from ranking 1-10.
Rank 1 means dirtiest ward and rank 10 means cleanest ward. The online voting will start on 21-05-2017 and end on 03-06-2017. The result will be declared on 06-06-2017. The sanitation team of the ward which get Rank I, II & III will be rewarded  Rs 10,000, Rs 7000 and Rs 5000 , respectively. Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the respective citizen to participate in the voting, so that Jammu Municipal Corporation gets the feedback of cleanliness of the wards.
