JAMMU, May 21:-Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), J&K has welcomed the  decision of Telangana Government to enhance the monthly honorarium of ASHA workers to Rs 6000 and asserted that J&K Government should also follow  the same track to provide succour to this hapless section of the society.
Sham Prasad Kesar, senior leader of CITU in a press statement here said that ASHAs have almost been working round the clock  in the far flung and respective areas to strengthen and upgrade the delivery and child care system but without any social security cover and guaranteed monthly honorarium.  It is with their efforts that Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) in the State has been brought down substantially.
He urged upon the State Government to enhance the monthly honorarium of ASHAs to Rs 6000 on the pattern of Telangana Government without any delay.
Pertinent to mention here that Telangana Govt in response to 106 days strike of ASHAs has increased the monthly honorarium to Rs 6000  and further assured that monthly honorarium of ASHAs would be enhanced to Rs 10500- in 2nd phase as applicable to Anganwadi workers of the State.
