SRINAGAR, May 22: Chief Secretary, B B Vyas today reviewed the progress of the 330-MW Kishanganga Power Project, being constructed in Gurez area of Bandipora district.
Commissioner/Secretary PDD, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, Commissioner/ Secretary, Revenue, Deputy Commissioners of Pulwama, Baramulla and Budgam, Chief Engineer, I&FC, NHPC authorities and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
While reviewing the implementation of resettlement and rehabilitation (R&R) Plan of the Project affected families (PAFs), Chief Secretary asked the Deputy Commissioner, Bandipora to ensure provision of relief/compensation to the PAFs, as per the approved R&R Plan.
The 330MW Kishanganga HEP envisages diversion of river Kishanganga from Gurez valley into an underground powerhouse with 3 units of 110MW each and discharging the tail water in Wullar Lake.
In order to improve the discharge capacity of Madhumati and Bonar Nallah and to protect the Nallah boundaries against high discharge, Chief Secretary asked Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Department to complete the works by November 30, 2017. The funds for the purpose will be released by NHPC within a week’s time positively.
Chief Secretary also reviewed the progress of Kishanganga-Amargarh-Wagoora Transmission line with instructions to Deputy Commissioners of Bandipora, Baramulla, Budgam and Pulwama to expedite the process of acquisition of land for setting up of towers and handing it over to the NHPC in a time bound manner.
