SRINAGAR, May 22: Muneer Khan, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, called on Governor N.N. Vohra at the Raj Bhavan here today. This was Khan’s first meeting with the Governor after taking over charge.
Khan briefed the Governor about the internal security situation in the Valley, particularly in South Kashmir.
Advising close surveillance on all fronts Governor asked Khan to ensure that his force plays a prompt and pro-active role in solving the problems faced by the people at large.
Governor also asked the IGP to devote special attention to see that the educational schedules of the students are not disrupted under any circumstances and they are immunised from influences which have the potential of vitiating their academic careers.
Usman Majeed, MLA Bandipora also met Governor.
Majeed discussed with the Governor issues relating to the maintenance of peace and normalcy in the State and matters relating to the balanced development of Bandipora constituency.
Appreciating Majeed’s various concerns, the Governor urged him to continue sustained efforts for promoting a peaceful environment which would enable the development and welfare of the people of his area.
G H Mir, former Minister also called on Governor.
Mir held discussions with the Governor about the obtaining security environment in the State.
