SRINAGAR, May 23: Two days long District Shopian Rugby 7-S Championship concluded here at Zainapora Sports Stadium, Shopian which was organized by District Shopian Rugby Association.
Twenty teams from all over the district took part in the championship. The winners and runners up teams got berth in the State Championship which will be held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar in the month of July.
On the closing ceremony, Principal, National Innovations Public School (NIPS) Nadeem Ahmad was the chief guest, who distributed prizes among the winner and runner-up teams.
While speaking, Nadeem Ahmad said that Shopian district is having great potential for sports and hoped that Rugby will also get popularity among the masses in this district.
Organising Secretary of the championship said that the winner and runner-up teams will perform better in the coming State Championship and hoped that Shopian district players will get selected for the forthcoming National Championships in near future.
The championship was held under the aegis of J&K Rugby Association and sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
