JAMMU, May 26: National Conference Students’ Union (NCSU), University of Jammu (JU), today said that Prime Minister’s Digital India scheme has failed in JU.
Addressing a press conference here today, NCSU president for JU, Sahil Singh Jamwal, said that
Jammu University is the most reputed institute of the State which is considered as divine for study by all J&K people and even the people residing outside the State.
He added every student may it be from the remotest college of Poonch or the city colleges whosoever is pursuing graduation has a dream to enter the premises of this University campus as a student but to accomplish this dream, students have to undergo a lot of plight, as students hailing from remote areas finds it cumbersome and tiresome to travel all day long just to submit a form by standing in queues.
“The campus which has the onus to produce officers of tomorrow puts those students in lines despite of classes”, said Sahil. He further said that the precious and valuable time which otherwise can be utilized by students to study and do something productive gets wasted in long queues under scorching heat or chilling cold.
“An era where we are talking about Digital India, the basic pillar of nation, the youth especially the students are being deprived of an access to digitalization and are still exposed to old methods. Digitalization would do the purpose only when it is applied for the budding officers being groomed in colleges and universities”, he added.
He said that our sister which come all the way long from remote areas just to submit a single form that too not being sure whether or not submission counter will remain opened till they reach the counter after standing for long hours in queues.
Manik Samson, Pranav Lakhnotra and Shubum Parkash (all vice presidents, JU), Vikas Badhoria (senior vice president) and Vikas Pandita (vice president) were also present.
