REASI, May 27: The District Level Inter-School Competition in Taekwondo for Boys Under-14 and Under-17 got underway, here today.
The Tournament is being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports under the overall supervision of Dr SS Chib, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Reasi.
Jasbir Singh, Station House Officer, Police Station Reasi was the Chief Guest on the inaugural function, while Rajinder Singh Raina, Assistant Director, CAPD, (Retd) was the Guest-of-Honour.
Principal Bharatiya Vidya Mandir High School Reasi was the Special Guest on the occasion, while a handsome gathering comprising the sports lovers, parents/guardians of the participants, a large number of other school children added flavor to the spirit of competition.
Mahesh Singh did refereeing and Daleep Singh acted as the starter during the meet. Pradeep Nag and Kuldeep Raj did time-keeping, whereas Jagdev Singh and Riaz Ahmed acted as recorder and announcer respectively.
In Under-14 boys 25 kg, Amjad of Lawrence Public School beat Jeshden of Presentation Convent School by 9-5; in 27 kg, Umar Faisal of Presentation Convent School defeated Amit Kumar of Lawrence Public School by 10-8; in 29 kg, Saksham of Trikuta Shiksha Niketan drubbed Akshit of Montessori Public School by 13-9; in 31 kg, Sahil Kumar of Bharatiya Vidya Mandir outlayed Uday Singh by 10-7; in 33 kg, Sujal of Lawrence Public School trounced Mubashir Ahmed of Govt. High School Kambal Danga by 11-9; in 35 kg, Amandeep of Trikuta Shikshan Niketan prevailed over Soham of Presentation Convent School by 8-6; in 37 kg, Aryan of Trikuta Shiksha Niketan got better of Swaslik of Presentation Convent School by 12-9; in 39 kg, Sambhar of Gurukul Public School beat Parvez Raja of Govt High School Kambal Danga by 8-7; in 39 kg, Antrish Bharatiya of Vidaya Mandir outclassed Sumit of Trikuta Shiksha Niketan by 7-5; in 55 kg, Nirmal Bharatiya of Vidya Mandir beat Dheeraj of Presentation Convent School by 15-12.
Meanwhile, in Under-17-35 Kg, Ayush Kasotra of Govt. High School Kambal Danga beat Ashfaq Ashraf by 16-12; in 40 kg, Laik Parvez of Govt. High School defeated Sameer of Bharatiya Vidaya Mandir by 9-7; in 48 kg, Dheeraj of Govt. High School Kambal Danga trounced Kush Kumar of Kambal Danga by 11-7; in 51 Kg, Basharat Amin of Govt. High School Kambal Danga drubbed Tassaduk Nag by 11-9.
