POONCH, May 28: Senior National Conference leader Dr Shehnaz Ganai (MLC) today urged upon the Government to take up Loran-Tangmarg road under Project Bharat Mala.
National Conference MLC visited village Sib in Loran, the base of the construction of Loran- Tangmarg Road, which passes through Jamia wali Gali, Basam Gali to Tangmarg. Around 72 Kms long Loran- Tangmarg road, she said that for 15 kms forest clearance has been accorded and for next 15 kms, it is under progress; the 30 kms from Loran side is under Sampark and rest is to be done by Project Beacon.
She said that the foundation stone of the Construction of the Road was laid in November 2015, and till now, only earth work on 6 kilometers of road has been executed by the Agency (SAMPARK). Expressing displeasure over the slow pace of work, Dr Ganai asked SAMPARK to redouble its efforts, so that the work gets completed in a time bound manner.
Dr Ganai said that since the road is under BADP and as such inadequate funding is the reason for the slow pace of work, and urged the Government to take up the road under Project Bharat Mala, which has sufficient funds for such projects. She said that the alignment of the road is single track and the need of the hour is to have a double lane and all weather road, so that the purpose of its construction gets justified and the people of the area get benefited.
Not satisfied with the slow pace of work Dr Ganai, urged the Government to constitute a high level monitoring cell consisting of Forest, Sampark and Revenue authorities, to monitor the progress of work.
Dr Ganai said that Uran Pathri 15 kms ahead of Loran, has a great potential for the development as tourist destination, and said that this road will serve as an economic artery for the area.
With regard to the land acquisition done by the agency for the construction of road, Commandant BRO, Udhay Singh informed the MLC that land acquisition for 4.5 kms of the land has been completed.
