LEH, June 1: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Bali Bhagat on the second day of his tour to Leh district today visited Primary Health Centre, Chuchot, MSC Kharu and took stock of the medicare facilities.
At PHC, Chuchot, the Minister enquired about the stock position of drugs and further requirement, the status of birth and death registration and other allied services available there. He interacted with the patients, attendants, doctors and para-medics and enquired about the conditions and services and sought their views to further improve these.
The Namberders of Chuchot block villages submitted a memorandum of demands regarding upgradation of existing PHC to Sub District Hospital in view of the increased patients flow.
At MSC Kharu, the Minister was presented a memorandum demanding upgradation of existing MSC to PHC and shifting it to Kharu block headquarters. The other demand related to setting up of PHCs at Taknak and Nalah Peu in view of the vast catchment area and sizeable population.
Bhagat assured to examine these demands on merit and an appropriate action. He instructed the Chief Medical Officer, Leh to organize awareness camps for the people in Turtuk and Bogdang blocks to educate the masses about various Government schemes and preventive measures on family planning and other related issues.
The Minister also visited Hemis Monastery and the Museum, where he was accorded warm welcome by the SDM Kharu, Tsering Mutup. He interacted with the locals and tourists and enquired about the facilities there.
The Minister was accompanied by Director Health Kashmir, Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman, CMO, Leh, Dr. Yangchan Dolma, Medical Superintendent, SNM Hospital and all District Health Officers.
