Create awareness among farmers to enhance productivity: VC Kisan Board

SRINAGAR, June 5: Vice-Chairman, J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisan, Daljit Singh Chib today convened a meeting to review the implementation of various Centrally Sponsored Schemes catering to the needs of the farmers.
During the course of the meeting, the VC was briefed about the various Centrally Sponsored Schemes that are being implemented by the Board to enhance productivity among farmer community
Stressing on the need to create awareness among farmers, Vice-Chairman said the mass media including print and electronic media should be utilized from time to time so that benefit of these Centrally Sponsored Schemes can percolate to the farmers living in rural areas. He said mass media support to agricultural extension and focused publicity campaigns would go a long way in strengthening reach out to all farmers including small and marginal.
VC remarked that need of the hour is to create coordination between Kisan Board and its board members to have direct communication with farmers. It was also discussed that district wise Kisan Board Committees should be formed.
The meeting was attended by Director Agriculture, Deputy Director Horticulture, Deputy Director Sheep Husbandry, Deputy Director Fisheries, Deputy Director Horticulture, Development Officer Sericulture, Floriculture Officer, Board Members and farmers.
