GANDOH, June 8: The residents held protest over shortage of doctors and equipments at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Jakyas.
Amid slogans, large number of people residing in Jakyas and surrounding areas assembled at PHC Jakyas and locked its main gate to lodge their protest against shortage of doctors and equipments.
While speaking, Ex-Sarpanch Liaqat Ali Sheikh said that the State Government claims to improve the health services, but rural population continues to suffer for want of even basic medical facilities.
“At PHC Jakyas, there is only one ISM doctor for over a decade. During day time, one can find a single ISM doctor and a couple of paramedics in this health institution. In night hours, no staff will be found present in this health centre”, the protesting people said.
“Hospital laboratory too remains locked due to the non-availability of technician. Even for minor injuries or tests, they have to rush to SDH Gandoh or District Hospital Doda. At PHC Jakyas, there are no medical facilities like X-ray, ECG etc”, they said.
When contacted CMO Doda Dr Wajid said that one doctor has been posted today in PHC Jakhyas. He assured to appoint more staff in the days to come.
