Badminton Championship concludes at Bhaderwah

BHADERWAH, June 8: To promote sports and to groom the hidden and raw talent of hills, the Sadhbhawna Sub Division Level Boys Badminton Championship concluded, here today.
The event was aimed at to promote sports among youth, especially Badminton in rural areas and to give talented youth an opportunity to show their skills at higher levels.
The Badminton Championship in which 90 shutlers from 10 schools of Bhadarwah and its peripheral areas and Government Degree College Bhadarwah, in two categories of under-14 and under-17 participated was played at Boys Higher Secondary School, Bhaderwah.
Commander 4 Sector RR Brig Rohit Nautiyal was the chief guest, while Annie Kotwal, Principal GGHSS was the guest of honour and CO 4RR presided over.
The commander lauded the Badminton players especially those from rural and far-off areas , who showed keen interest and came in such a large number to participate in the tournament despite ongoing holly month of Ramadan.  He also lauded District sports authority, Badminton clubs, Principals of schools and College for helping Army in organizing the event and bringing together players from across the villages to participate in the event.
“We are heading towards completely new era of normalcy which reciprocates in development and increasing sporting events in Chinab Valley. We will continue to promote sports and extra-curricular activities in entire region to provide a platform to the raw talent and groom them to become professionals,” he said adding that people have rendered sacrifices for the restoration of peace in this area.”
Renowned Social worker and senior Educationist Rana Aarif said,  “such events not only encourage young players but also portray a soft image of Bhaderwah Valley as well as the entire Chinab region.”
“This is an encouraging sign that despite a very short notice 90 players participated in the Sadhbhawna badminton Championship which is being held after a hiatus of several years,” said PET Mudassir Maqbool Butt.
In the doubles under-17 final which was played between GDC Bhadarwah and GHSS Boys, was won by Sidharth and Nitin of GGHSS by  21 /10 and 21 /16 from Ashish Kumar and Ricky of GDC.
In the Under-17 singles Pardeep Kumar of GDC beat Gopi of GGHSS by 21-19, 14-21, 21-19, however in under category Aditya of Nichlathara Gatha beat Amit Kumar of BVMMS Gatha and in under-14 doubles, Sumit and Nitin of BVMMS Gatha beat Aabid and Jatinder of GGHS Nichlathara.
Trophies and medals were presented to winners and runners-up in both the categories by Commander and CO in presence of Principal Annie Kotwal.
Other prominent dignitaries who were present during the inauguration of the Championship include CO 4RR,  Arif Rana, Mudassir Maqbool Butt, Rajni, Mandir and Aftab Aalam.
