NEW DELHI, June 11: Minister for Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports and Technical Education, Moulvi Imran Raza Ansari today had a detailed discussion with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on the massive outreach program for the involvement of youth of Jammu and Kashmir in various productive activities.
The key element of the meeting was to build increased commitment to investment in youth.
Ansari called for need to build and invest in sustainable youth innovation programmes in the field of sports, skill development and technical education so that the young people of the State become the drivers of its progress with much more vigor.
“Our youth are much talented. They have brought laurels to the State in different competitions and academics. They need to be encouraged and provided new opportunities and platforms for achieving new heights,” Ansari informed Rajnath Singh.
During the discussion, the Home Minister acknowledged the need for creating different platforms and job opportunities so that youth participation in nation building is maximized.
Ansari further informed the Home Minister that the State Government has already started establishing sports clubs in every village of the State to groom the talent in far off areas.
During the detailed discussion, Ansari said that 1500 youth with Physical Education degrees are being engaged under Rehbar-e-Khel Scheme (ReK) in the first phase, but the Home Ministry needs to take additional initiatives for making them as the promoters of sports activities at different levels in the state.
Ansari said people of Jammu and Kashmir have great expectations from the present coalition government in the State and it needs all possible assistance from the Centre for ushering J&K into an era of peace, progress and prosperity.
The Home Minister assured that the Centre will explore various options for creating job vacancies in sports sector. He also maintained that Centre will also explore different funding avenues in order to sustain the sports activities round the year.
