Inter-State drugs trafficking racket busted, 2 arrested

JAMMU, June 14: Gangyal police under Operation Sanjeevani busted inter-State drugs trafficking racket with the arrest of two persons and recovery of 400 banned syrup bottles.
As per police sources, based on reliable information, a team from Gangyal police station laid a naka at Greater Kailash chowk and signaled a truck bearing registration number PB10BT-9594 and a Santro car bearing registration number JK02AS-2379 coming from New Delhi side to Narwal to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the drivers of the vehicle accelerated the vehicles and tried to escape from the spot, but the cops chased the vehicles and intercepted them near some distance from the naka point.
During checking, police recovered 400 banned syrup bottles from the vehicles and arrested the drivers of both the vehicles.
The accused have been identified as Sanjeev Kumar (truck driver) alias Shiva, son of Amer Nath of District Pathankote, Punjab and Dilawer Hussain, son of Faqir Mohammad, a resident of Rehari Colony, Jammu.
During questioning, they disclosed that they had brought the consignment from New Delhi for selling it among the youth for Rs 500 in Jammu and adjoining areas of Jammu.
With the arrest of the accused persons, the Gangyal police achieved a major success to save the youth from becoming drug addicts.
A case under FIR Number 43/17 under Section 8/21/22 Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered against them at Gangyal police station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Gangyal SI Nayat Ali made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO South Mohammed Rafiq Manhas and SP South Sandeep Choudhary.
