Ropeway projects in Jammu

Sir,
This has reference to the news item ‘Mooted 4 years back, work on Shivkhori ropeway……..” DE June 22.
It is quite disappointing to note that three proposed ropeway projects in Jammu region namely Mubarak Mandi-Bahu Fort, Patnitop and Shivkhori have not taken off yet despite lapse of so much time. Though these projects take time to get necessary clearance from various department, there remains one  aspect that plays a critical role in the project-political will. In these cases there seems no presence of political will on the part of the Government to execute these projects on priority basis. These much touted projects will remain in limbo in coming time too going by the present scenario.
Had these project been executed, they would have added a new dimension to tourism sector in the Jammu region. Patnitop remains the prime destination of people in Jammu region. People rush to the spot during summer and winters.
The ropeway project would have given it a further boost and brought it on tourist map of the country. The Government must execute them without further loss of time. By the time these projects may be executed, they would involve cost hike which one does not know how many times.
Yours etc….
Veer Singh
