After Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, the President, Pranab Kumar Mukherjee also showed anger and protest against the recent cases of lynching. On one side, we are claiming to be the biggest democracy of the world and having thousands years of civilizational richness and on the other side India is going through a dark phase where heinous crimes like rapes and the lynching take place. However, great may be a nation in terms of economic progress, literature, science, culture, but the negative trends malign the image not only locally or nationally but also internationally. And the bigger tragedy is the politicisation of these happenings. Instead of contributing to check such menaces politicians are adding fuel to the fire. I also wonder why the religious stalwarts of different religions don’t come together and issue sermons against the lynching, whether done in Kashmir, or in other states of India?
