NEW DELHI, July 3:
The Home Ministry today rejected a media report that said Jammu and Kashmir Governor NN Vohra has offered to quit his post citing health issues.
“The Ministry of Home Affairs has not received any letter from J&K Governor NN Vohra offering to quit the post. We have checked with HMO and PMO, no letter has come.
We have also checked with Governor House in J&K, they also said there is no such letter,” an MHA spokesperson said.
If media reports are to be believed, the efforts were being made to find a suitable replacement of Vohra since the last one year.
The name of current Delhi LG Anil Baijal was almost finalised but the effort died after Burhan Wani’s killing.
Vohra was appointed Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in 2008 and was offered second term in 2013. Earlier, he had also served as Defence Secretary and Union Home Secretary. (UNI)
