Driver booked for rape of girl

MENDHAR, July 5: The police has booked a young Sumo driver  for rape of  minor girl hailing from Harni area of Mendhar sub division in district Poonch today.
A police spokesman said that after a new born was found abandoned  near Police Station Gursai on June 25, 2017, the police started investigation. The police party shifted the baby girl to SDH Mendhar and started investigation. The police managed to trace the unmarried 15-year-old who had delivered this baby. The police produced the girl before the Judge and recorded her statement under section 164 RPC.  She narrated the whole story and alleged that one Vicky ( Sumo) driver, son of Mumtaz Ahmed, resident of Galuta committed rape on her when she was staying at the house of Sobia Kouser, wife of Mehmood Ahmed, resident of Harni. She was staying as domestic help for Sobia who was doing staff nurse training in Jammu. The youth in Sobia’s relation used to visit her home in Jammu and committed rape on her several times.
The girl further revealed that when she got pregnant she told Sobia but she ignored the matter when delivery times was nearing advanced stage. She forcibly sent her to home with that driver Vicky. She delivered the baby girl with the help of a chemist known to Vicky. The baby  was abandoned  due to social stigma.
The police registered a case FIR No. 50/ 2017 against Vicky and two others including Sobia and a Chemist under sections 307, 376, 109 and 317 RPC at Police Station Gursai. The police party went to arrest the accused during last mid night but entered wrong house of a teacher.  The family members and  relatives of teacher then staged protest and blocked road for two hours today. They alleged that police men abused them and misbehaved during raid for no fault of their.  SDPO, Mendhar  Riaz Tantray pacified the agitating people and assured to hold inquiry into the matter. The agitating people then lifted dharna.
