JAMMU, July 6: Champions Cricket Club defeated Brothers Cricket Club in an easy contest and sealed berth in the semifinals of the ongoing 5th Maharaja Hari Singh Memorial Cricket Tournament, being played at MHAC School ground, Nagbani, here.
Batting first, Champions Cricket Club scored 151 runs in the allotted 20 overs. Atul top score with 41 runs, while Akhil Uppal contributed valuable 30 runs to the total. Frpm Brothers Club, Sanju and Padu bagged 2 wickets each.
In reply, Brothers Cricket Club lost wickets at regular intervals and succumbed to pressure when it mattered the most. Padu was the only batsman who showed some resistance and scored 51 runs. From Champions Cricket Club, Akhil Uppal bowled brilliantly and took 5 important wickets by conceding 20 runs in his 4 overs, while Arjun Chowdhary took 2 wickets. Akhil was adjudged as the man of the match for his all-round performance.
Golu Jamwal and Adarsh Sharma were the umpires, while Karamvir Singh was the scorer.
