JAMMU, July 6: Simula Cricket Club and Laxmi Cricket Club registered convincing victories over their rivals in the ongoing KC Sports Club T20 Cricket Cup 2017, being played at newly laid turf at KC School ground, here.
In the first match played today, Simula Cricket Club defeated United Cricket Club by a huge margin of 78 runs.
Winning the toss and batting first, Simula CC scored a fighting total of 137 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Atul Sahrma top scord with 51 runs, Mohit Puri and Raman Dutta contributed 27 and unbeaten 16 runs respectively. From United Cricket Club, Surinder, Ritik and Sumit Dhar took 2 wickets each, while Kewal claimed one wicket.
While chasing the target, United CC collapsed at a meagre total of 59 runs in 14.5 overs, thus lost the match by 78 runs. Sumit Dhar was the only batsman to cross double figure mark, while Parshotam and Surinder chipped in with 9 runs each. For Simula, Abhinav Khajuria was the pick of the bowlers, who took 5 important wickets, while Raman Dutta and Ritik bagged 2 wickets each. Mohit Puri claimed one wicket. Abhinav Khajuria was declared as the man of the match.
In another match played today, Laxmi Cricket Club thrashed Danny Cricket Club by 57 runs.
Batting first, Laxmi Cricket Club scored a good total of 164 runs in the allotted 20 overs, losing 8 wickets in the process. Bansi Lal was the top scorer with 68 runs, while Rakesh and Akash contributed 21 runs each. From Danny Club, Ashok and Munish bagged 2 wickets each, while Varun and Sunny shared one wicket each.
In reply, Danny Cricket Club scored 107 runs in 18.2 overs, thus lost the match by 57 runs. Ashok top scored with 36 runs, while Sunil and Amit contributed 12 and 11 runs respectively. From Laxmi Cricket Club, Sameer Khajuria took 3 wickets, while Surinder and Bhalat took 2 wickets each and Aman and Yogesh shared one wicket each. Bansi Lal was adjudged as man of the match for his brilliant batting display.
The matches were officiated by Bunty Kumar, Madan Lal and Vinod Kandyara.
The Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Arjun Chowdhary, Managing Director KC Sports Club, while the matches are being supervised by Sanjeev Sharma, organizing secretary of the Tournament.
