JAMMU, July 7: Defeating United Cricket Club by a big margin of 120 runs in a one-sided affair, Laxmi Cricket Club stormed into the quarterfinals, while YWCCC registered easy win over Striker Cricket Club to stay alive in the ongoing KC Sports Club Cup T20 Cricket Tournament 2017, being played on newly laid turf at KC School ground, here.
In the first match played today, YWCCC defeated Striker Cricket Club by 43 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first, riding on brilliant 66 runs by Naman, YWCCC scored a good total of 174 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Ankush was another main contributor with 32 runs. From Striker Club, Happy was the pick of the bowlers, who took 4 important wickets, while Ankan bagged 3 wickets. Raja and Sachin claimed 2 and one wicket respectively.
In reply, Striker CC managed to score 131 runs by losing 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs, thus lost the match by 43 runs. Raja top scored with 46 runs, while Sunny contributed 15 runs to the total. Sachin and Amit chipped in with 13 runs each, while Goldy made 12 runs. Rahul was the wrecker-in-chief for YWCCC, who took 4 important wickets, while King Ji bagged 2 wickets. Karan and Romesh claimed one wicket each.
In another match, Laxmi Cricket Club crushed United Cricket Club by a huge margin of 120 runs. Batting first, LCC scored 183 runs in 20 overs, losing 3 wickets in the process. Bansi Lal top scored with magnificent 75 runs, while Aakash Ohri and Rakesh contributed 35 and 25 runs to the total respectively. Sumit Dhar took 2 wickets for UCC, while Surinder claimed one wicket.
UCC, in reply collapsed at 62 runs in 12.4 overs to lose by a big margin. Surinder and Uttam contributed 15 runs each, while Kovid chipped in with 13 runs. From Laxmi Club, Sameer Khajuria was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 4 important wickets, while Saksham and Vikram bagged 2 wickets and Bharat claimed one.
The matches were officiated by Madan Lal and Vinod Kandayara as umpires, while the Tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Arjun Chowdhary, Managing Director of KC Sports Club, Jammu.
