MENDHAR, July 7: The people held protest against the staff of Sub District Hospital Mendhar and State Health authorities and blocked road for some time here today.
Reports said that a 13-year-old boy, Umar Choudhary, son of Manzoor Hussain resident of Sakhi Maidan village was brought to SDH Mendhar by the family in serious condition at around 8 am today. The family members and relatives alleged that there was no doctor available in the hospital. They waited there for an hour and then moved to the Block Medical Officer (BMO) Dr Zulfkar Choudhary’s official quarter who told that he will be coming shortly to hospital. The family alleged that there was no doctor available till 10.15 am. In between patient’s more relatives arrived in the hospital.
The ailing boy who had been brought on a cot, was then taken to main chowk, Mendhar and relatives supported by people of the area started protest against Health Department and Hospital staff. The road was also blocked.
Later, SHO Mendhar reached there and tried to pacify the people. Tehsildar, Shahzad Khan also arrived there after it. The aggrieved family members were then taken to the office of SDM Rahul Yadav who assured action in this regard. The boy was then attended with the intervention of local administration at the hospital, where doctor referred him to Rajouri Hospital. The family alleged that no medicine or proper treatment was provided to the patient at Mendhar hospital.
