Kashmiri Khatri Hindu migrants demand revision of voter lists

JAMMU, July 8: Kashmiri Khatri Hindu Maha Sabha, Kashmiri Khatri Yuvak Sabha and Displaced Kashmiri Unemployed Youth Union held a meeting under the chairmanship of its President Er Ramesh Chander Mahajan.
During the meeting, the participants said that in the present updated records in voters lists, the names of the Kashmiri migrants families and soul members are missing due to which they are deprived of their constitutional right to cast the vote and lost their identity in State as well as in Centre.
“EPIC/ voter identity card are not issued till date due to which the migrants are confronting continue discrimination since the year 1990 and injustices”, Mahajan said, adding that M Form system with lot of formalities also discouraging the migrant voters from exercising their franchise. He said that M Form formalities of migrants in the election process must be ended.
He demanded immediate revision of the voter lists details before the coming elections so that the maximum participation of all migrants community will be ensured to elect their members in Centre as well as State level.
