JAMMU, July 15: Mountaineering Association of J&K has selected 10 women climbers for participation in the 2nd Women North Zone Sport Climbing Championship scheduled to be organized at Indian Mountaineering Foundation from July 23 to July 24, 2017.
Earlier, the Association had selected 16 climbers of the state on the basis of trials conducted at Sprawling Buds School, Bantalab, Jammu.
A 14 days coaching cum selection camp was organized by the Association for these climbers at Sprawling Buds School, Jammu which concluded on 14th July,2017 and finally 10 member team was selected for the Zonal competition after screening by the J&K State Sports Council.
Prominent among others present at the time of selection of the team included Ravi Singh, Divisional Sports Officer (J), J&K State Sports Council, Ram Khajuria, General Secretary, Yogeshwar Kumar, Vice President, Shawetica Khajuria, Joint Secretary and Rakesh Goswami of Mountaineering Association of J&K. Rahul Sharma, Chairman, Sprawling Buds School also keenly watched the selection of the team.
Now the team will undergo another week long coaching camp under the supervision of Shashi Kant Sharma, the present trainer of the state team from 16th to 22nd July prior to its departure for the competition.
The team includes Shilpa Charak of Jammu, Ambreen Fatima and Cho Cho Razia Tabassum, both of Kargil, presently Jammu, Vishali Sarmal and Punam, both of Kathua District, Vishali Sharma, Himani Choudhary, Deepika Dutta and Sakshi Magotra of Jammu and Sumiya Kousar of Reasi, presently Jammu.
The state team has been sponsored by J&K State Sports Council.
