JAMMU, July 15: Former minister and chairman of National Panthers Party Harsh Dev Singh has alleged that BJP has connived with the PDP to marginalise Jammu and reject the aspirations of the people from this region.
While addressing the gathering including some new entrants in the party, Harsh Dev Singh came down heavily on the State Government and BJP in particular for conniving with its ally to marginalize Jammu region in all the spheres. He regretted that while the Dogri language had been ignored the Kashmiri language was clandestinely introduced as a subject all across Jammu region by the valley centric government. He said that it was being reported that 49 vacant posts out of 492 existing vacancies of Astt. Professors in Higher Education Department had been converted for Kashmiri language planned to be taught in all 46 Govt run Degree Colleges of Jammu division.
He further rued that Dogri language was taught as a subject in only 19 colleges across Jammu region with mere 9 permanent faculty members along with 10 contractual lecturers. Sensing a deep rooted conspiracy to subjugate the students and youth of Jammu Pradesh over vernacular issue, he wondered that if the Kashmiri language was taught as a subject in all the colleges in the valley, what actually prompted the State government to convert such a huge number of Assistant Professors posts for teaching Kashmiri language as a subject in the colleges of Jammu division. He lambasted the BJP for once again turning Nelson’s eye over the issue which had hurt the sentiment of the entire Dogra fraternity.
Anguished over the Jammu youth being subjected to worst kind of discrimination in the field of employment, Harsh Dev flayed it for treating them like ‘disposables’. He lamented that the ever growing regional bias in selections by the PSC/ SSB to Government services and the harassment of the underemployed working in all the departments in the capacity of daily wagers, consolidated and need based workers, contractual employees etc. had caused a severe embitterment among the youth of Jammu region.
Accusing the BJP for its gross betrayal with Jammu, he said that educated Jammu youth were the biggest casualty of the BJP-PDP’s discriminatory policies in the present regime.
