5 drug smugglers held with ‘bukki’, charas, heroin

RAJOURI, July 24:  The police  recovered 2 kg poppy straw (Bukki), some heroin and charas from the possession of  five drug-peddlers  and arrested them in Thannamandi area this evening.
All the five drug- smugglers hail from Rajouri area and were returning from Pulwama in Kashmir in a Tata Sumo.  A police party led by SDPO Thannamandi, Iftikhar Ahmed and SHO, Karan Chalotra along with some force men had laid naka near Manyal Gali on Shopian-Rajouri  (Mughal) Road. They had some inputs about smuggling of drugs in a vehicle.
The police party surrounded the vehicle after they gave signal to stop at naka point.  During search of the bags of the passengers  and vehicle, the police party recovered 2 kg `Bukki’, 30 gms charas and 15 gm heroin from their possession. All the five youth hailing from Rajouri area were arrested and put in the police lock up at Thannamandi Police Station. The drugs were seized and Sumo  driver was detained.
The police identified the arrested youth as Shahdab Mirza, son of Shamsher Mirza, resident of Bhathian; Tariq Mehmood, son of Mohd Azad from Badda Kanna village;  Azhar Mehmood, son of Zameer Khan, resident of Khablan, Tanveer Razak, son of Mohd Razak and  Mohd Zaheer, son of Mohd Rashid, both residents  of  Behrot.  The police had registered a case against them. Further,  investigation was in progress.
