Paddar people allege poor BSNL service, power supply

KISHTWAR  July 25: The people from remote Paddar (Gulabgarh)  area have alleged poor BSNL service and worst power supply position in the entire Sub Division despite the fact that annual Machhil Yatra has  commenced.
A prominent citizen, Kartar Singh Rathore from  Paddar told the Excelsior that  annual Machhil Yatra has commenced and even today there are about 200-300 pilgrims in the area but the Administration has failed to ensure adequate supply of electricity in this belt. He alleged that for the last 24 hours, there is complete break down in the power supply and the concerned PDD authorities  failed to restore the same till this afternoon.  The people,  especially the pilgrims are facing problems, he added.
He pointed out that last year DyCM,  Dr Nirmal Singh along with local Minister from Kishtwar, Sunil Sharma  had laid a foundation stone for the new grid station at Paddar, but the work has not been launched on the Station and only local public was befooled.
Mr Rathore pointed out that worst is the condition of BSNL services in the entire area. There is no service provided by any private Telecom company in the area. BSNL’s connectivity is very poor. The voice is not audible during conversation, it often breaks  and call drops is the major problem.  Thousands of pilgrims visiting Macchil will face massive connectivity problem.
The locals of  the area further alleged that GREF/BRO is maintaining 65 km Kishtwar-Atholi (Paddar) road but its condition is worst. The agency has not repaired the road since along and Administration too, has not taken cognizance of the matter.
DC Kishtwar, GN Balwan however, claimed that concerned departments have been directed  to ensure good supply of water and power and food items in the area during Yatra. A private Telecom company is being roped in  to provide  services in this remote area. The DC said that GREF people have been asked to fill the pits created on the road in view of annual yatra. He said helicopter service will start from August Ist and two Heli- companies have been engaged to facilitate the yatris.
