Gurukul Governing Council finalises arrangements for Shastri classes

KATRA, July 28: The 22nd meeting of the Governing Council for Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Gurukul, Charan Paduka, Katra, was held here today and finalised the arrangements for starting Shastri (Graduation) classes in the Gurukul from mid August.
Dr. S. S. Bloeria, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Council for Gurukul, chaired the meeting. Prof. Y. K. Mishra; Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri; Ajeet Kumar Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board; Dr. M. K. Kumar, Additional CEO;  Hem Kant Prasher, Chief Accounts Officer;  Pankaj Gupta, Dy. CEO and Administrator of Gurukul; and Gopal Dass Sharma, Head Pujari, Bhawan, participated in the meeting.
After inspecting the works of upcoming Gurukul Phase-II, the Chairman and Members of the Governing Council expressed satisfaction that the Hostel Block, Acharya Block and Yagyashalla have been completed and the faculty, staff and other wherewithal have been put in place in all respects to make the Gurukul Phase-II operational and commencing the Shastri classes from next month. Dr. Bloeria advised for completing the remaining works expeditiously and impressed upon all the stakeholders to redouble their efforts for developing the Gurukul as a centre of excellence.
The CEO asked for ensuring adequate fire fighting arrangements in the Gurukul Phase-II in sync with the provision made in other complexes of the Board.
The meeting also finalised the modalities for forming alumni association of the outgoing students of the Gurukul so that they remain connected with their alma mater, as the first batch of the students is passing out their 12th class this year.
The Governing Council also finalised the draft Annual Report of the Gurukul for the year 2016-17.
At present 141 students are studying in VI to XII classes in this fully residential Gurukul which was established by the Shrine Board in 2010. They are being imparted education in Vedas, Sanskrit, religious scriptures, Karamkand and Pooja rituals, apart from being taught all modern subjects, including Science, Mathematics and Computers.
