JAMMU, Aug 3:  Daily wagers from Power Development Department (PDD) today held protest demonstration in support of their demands here today.
The employees  under the banner of  All J&K PDD Daily Wagers Union, led by its president Surjeet Khajuria assembled at Press Club near Dogra Chowk here and started protest demonstration. They were holding banners and placards in their hands projecting their demands.  They are demanding their regularization, release of pending wages  and early conduct of DPC.
These workers had launched their strike on November 28, 2016 and today their agitation entered the 249th day. They are sitting on protest dharna in the office premises of  SE M&RE, Railway Road, Jammu.
The Union president pointed out that vide Letter no. 542/ 2017, dated 29-6-2017, DyCM issued directions to Chief Engineer EM&RE Kashmir for conducting immediate DPC  of the PDLs/TDLs who have completed their seven years of service in the department under SRO   381 of 1981, Cabinet Decision No. 151/23 of 2012 for promotion of PDLs/TDLs in Kashmir Division only. This clearly  shows the partial/ bias   attitude of the DyCM towards the PDD workers from  Jammu region.
Chairman of the Union Bharat Singh, Gurnam Slathia vice chairman, Ashwani Kumar – general secretary  and other leaders appealed to the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to intervene personally into the matter and provide them justice.
