JAMMU, Aug 3: A cop received injuries, when a bovine animals laden vehicle hit him during checking in the jurisdiction of Jhajjar Kotli police station.
As per police sources, a team from Jhajjar Kotli police station laid a naka and signaled a Mahindra Pick-up vehicle to stop for checking.
On seeing police cops, the driver accelerated the vehicle and after hitting a cop, escaped from the spot.
Stinking something fishy, the cops chased and intercepted the vehicle near some distance from the naka point, but the cattle smugglers managed to escape from the spot.
During checking, police rescued six bovine animals from the vehicle and seized it.
The injured constable identified as Munir Ahmed was shifted to hospital for treatment.
A case under relevant Sections has been registered at Jhajjar Kotli police station and hunt has been launched to arrest the bovine smugglers.
