BJP-PDP avengefully withdraws NPP leaders’ security: Harsh

JAMMU, Aug 13: Alleging vindictive approach of the ruling alliance in the State towards even the security concerns of opposition leaders, NPP chairman  Harsh Dev Singh  today lambasted the Govt for withdrawing the security of party leaders purely as a measure of vengeance and political vendetta.
In a press statement here Singh  said that having been exposed for its misdeeds and multiple failures by the Panthers Party; the Govt was indulging in harassment of the Panthers besides trying to restrict their political activity and movements. He said that BJP leaders who had been unrobed by Panthers for their omissions and commissions besides their corrupt deeds were not only using the Police force to victimize the Panthers workers but had prevailed upon the concerned authorities to divest the NPP leaders of their genuine security needs.
Cautioning the Govt, he made it clear that in case of any mishap or physical assault on him or any NPP leader, the Govt particularly,  BJP shall be responsible. He said that not only the withdrawal of security, the District Magistrates were being made to issue orders directing the Panthers leaders not to hold rallies or public meetings without permissions, something unheard in earlier regimes. He said that after security of NPP leaders was curtailed, the District Magistrates were often issuing prohibiting orders imposing sec 144 CrPc in places where they were to hold public meeting in a bid to restrain them from exercising their democratic rights.
Lambasting the Coalition Govt for playing politics over the sensitive issue of security and protection, Singh pointed out that several petty workers of BJP and PDP were provided security vehicles and free fuel which were denied to the former ministers with high threat perception. He lamented that despite being the Chairman of a recognized State party he had been wrongfully deprived of the security provided to other heads of recognized parties. Not only that all other ex-ministers were provided sufficient security and fuel by the Govt while excluding him despite he being a former Minister and MLA for 18 years.
