Sainik School Nagrota outshines in Athletic meet

JAMMU, Nov 1: Sainik School Nagrota emerged as the overall champion in the Jammu Sahodaya Athletic Meet hosted by the school in mini stadium from 30 Oct 2012 to 01 Nov 2012. Eleven top schools affiliated to CBSE from Jammu region participated in the Athletic Meet.
Minister for Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation Raman Bhalla was the Chief Guest on the occasion and gave away the medals and trophies to the winners.
In his address, the Minister commended the performance of Sainik School athletes and said that the alumni of the school are doing extremely well in all fields and the school is an asset to the State of J&K.
Earlier KCS Mehta, Principal, APS Akhnoor presented welcome address and lauded the role of Sainik School Nagrota as an active member of the Sahodaya Schools Complex.
In the final day’s events Master Arjun Sharma of Jodhamal School clinched Gold in 100 mtrs race and among Girls Miss Jessica of the same school won Gold.
In 4 x 100 mtr relay Sainik School team won Gold with a comprehensive lead.
The Minister also presented a special souvenir T-Shirt signed by ace cricketer Kapil Dev to the most promising Athlete Cdt Sangeet Madiyan of Sainik School, Master Rishav Singh Chib of APS Akhnoor won the Best Athlete award among boys and Miss Sakshi Koul of MHAC Nagbani won the same award in Girls category.
In the final medal tally Sainik School Nagrota topped with 12 Gold medals. Minister also appreciated the Sainik School Band and Band Master Subash Chander for their performance.
Group Captain Ajay Kumar, Principal expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest for gracing the occasion and commended the performance of Cadets in all the events. He also appreciated the staff of the school and the participating teams for making the Athletic Meet a grand success.
