Srinagar, Aug 16: Patients face massive inconvenience as most staff members of Medical Aid Centre (MAC) Machipora in Kupwara district of north Kashmir arrive late everyday to perform their duties.
Locals said patients remain lined up at the OPD of MAC every morning in wait of the concerned staffers. Patients with serious problems suffer a lot because of the late arrival of the doctors, they said. Abdul Majid, an attendant, said he reached the health centre at 10 am in the morning and has been waiting for more than one hour along with his wife.
“It is 11:45 am and not a single person has come: neither the pharmacist nor Multipurpose Female Health Workers have turned up for the duty,” he lamented. He said the center has miserably failed to render its services and alleged that the staff was taking salaries without providing the required services.
One pharmacist and some MPFHWs are posted at the facility established for providing medical aid and immunization services. When contacted, Block Development Officer Moamer Ahmed said that both the employees who were posted in the health centre have been suspended for irresponsible behaviour.
He, however, said that one MPFHW was on duty but at other health centre to collect the immunization vaccine. “She was at Chogul which is far away. It took her time to collect the vaccine,” he added.
