JAMMU, Aug 17: Inter District Divisional Level Competitions of Jammu division in the disciplines of Chess and Carrom (all age groups) boys and girls concluded at Youth Hostel Nagrota, here today.
In all, 70 Players drawn from six districts of Jammu division which include Jammu, Udhampur, Samba, Doda, Kathua and Ramban are taking part in the competition.
The competitions were organized under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services and Sports, and under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Jammu, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the organizing secretary of the competition.
According to the organizers, the main objective of the competition is to select the teams of Jammu division for their further participation in State Level competitions 2017.
Earlier, in Carrom Under- 14 girls singles, Sheetal of BGHS Sohanjana clinched 1st place, while Avantika of SOS claimed 2nd spot, while in
Carom Under-17 girls singles, Vanshika of St. Frances bagged 1st position and Sukhpreet of BSF won 2nd place and in Carrom Under-19 girls singles final, Vanshika of DBN won 1st place.
In Carrom Under-14 girls doubles final,
Layza and Arzoo of District Ramban won 1st
place, while Kritika and Vanshika of District Jammu claimed 2nd spot, while in Carom Under-17 girls doubles final, Kamakshi and Sufia of District Jammu bagged 1st
place, while Mamta and Riya of Jammu District clinched 2nd position and in Carrom Under-19 girls doubles final, Sonika and Tanvi of Jammu District clinched 1st place, while Raksha and Deepanshi of Jammu District claimed 2nd spot.
The matches were officiated by Kamal, Dheeraj, and Mayank.
In Chess Under-14 girls, Isha of Jammu District beat Samriti of Kathua, while Rashi of Jammu defeated Diksha of Kathua.
In Chess Under-17 girls, Bhavna of Jammu trounced Ayushi of Udhampur and Jigyasa of Kathua outplayed Tamana of Jammu.
In Chess Under-19 girls, Arushi of Jammu drubbed Ananya of Udhampur, while Mansha of Udhampur defeated Sanjana of Jammu.
The matches were officiated by Tarseem Singh, Amit Kalsi and Nitin Sethi.
Meanwhile, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, the Divisional Level Inter-District tournament for Under-19 boys and girls in the disciplines of Belt Wrestling, concluded at Sports Stadium Kathua.
The Tournament was held under the chairmanship of Joint Director Youth Services and Sports Jammu, Madan Lal and under the overall supervision of District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kathua, Subash Chander Bhardwaj.
Today, the competitions for Girls were held in which Anjali of Kathua, Arti of Kathua, Prachi Gupta of Jammu, Sharuti of Kathua, Devo Rani of Kathua and Isha Rani of Kathua got gold in below 38, 41 45, 50, 56, 63 kg weight categories respectively.
The competition was officiated by Kuldeep Singh, Pankaj Spolia and Punjab Singh.
