JAMMU, Aug 19: District Level Inter-School Competitions of Jammu District in the disciplines of Badminton, Football, Hupkwondo, Speedball, Rifle Shooting, Handball, Judo and Gymnastics concluded here today.
In all, 480 boys drawn from Govt. and Private Institutions of District Jammu took part in the Competitions, which were organized under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services & Sports, and under the Chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services & Sports, Jammu, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu was the organizing secretary of the Competitions.
The main objective of the Competition was to select the teams of Jammu District for their further participation in Divisional Level Competitions of 2017.
In Judo Under-14 boys -25 Kg, Aditya Singh of BSF clinched gold and Lakshdeep Singh of Dewan Devi claimed silver, while in -30 Kg, Hitesh of JKMS won gold and Pragjot Singh of SOS clinched silver.
In -35 Kg, Rahul Dogra of Alexandra Memorial HSS bagged gold and Agestya of Shangrilla Public School claimed silver, while in -40 Kg, Dhruv Verma of RRL won gold and Peuish Raina of GD Goenka claimed silver.
In -45 Kg, Raghav Singh of KV won gold and Akshay Sharma of BSF Paloura bagged silver, while in -50 Kg, Shivay of APS Kalu Chak bagged gold and Sunny Thakur of BSF clinched silver, while in +50 Kg, Varun Sharma of Vimal Vidhaylay bagged gold and Raj Vardhan of APS Kalu Chak claimed silver.
The gold medalists in various categories of Under-17 boys included Aryan of HSS Shastri Memorial, Sunil of SOS, Rohit of New Shastri Memorial, Mudit Raina of JKPS, Amar Chib of APS Kalu Chak, Vansh of DBN HSS and Ushart Choudhary of APS Kalu Chak, while the gold medalists in Judo Under-19 boys included Amit Singh of APS, Mndeep Singh of APS, Manik Beloria of BSF, Mridul of Model Academy and Aareen of GD Goenka.
Matches were officiated by Varinder, Raman, Ravinder and Mukta
In Football Under-19 boys, APS Kalu Chak beat KC International School via tie-break by 4-2 and BSF Paloura defeated GHSS Bahu Fort by 4-0.The matches were officiated by Ajay Sharma, Tanpreet, Tarunpal, Gurbachan, Amit and Mahadev.
Manpreet, Dhairya and Gourav Chitri of Banyan International School clinched gold in Under-14, 17 and Under-19 age groups in the discipline of Gymnastics.
