JAMMU/ REASI, Aug 26: District Level Inter School Tournament for boys under-19 years, organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, under the supervision of Dr Swarn Singh Chib, DYSSO Reasi concluded at General Zorawar Singh Sports Stadium, Reasi, today.
In all, 215 players hailing from far and wide of District Reasi participated in the Inter School Tournament in the disciplines of Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Wrestling.
Kulraj Singh, District Social Welfare Officer Reasi was the chief guest on the occasion, who urged upon the participants to avail this golden opportunity of participating in this personality development programme being undertaken by the Department of Youth Services and Sports.
Nikhil Gogna, DySP DAR Reasi who was the guest of honour on the occasion impressed upon the participants that Sports is the unique medium of providing equal opportunity to the individuals irrespective of their social, economic or geographical considerations.
Earlier, in Volleyball final, GHSS Pouni beat GHSS Reasi by 2-0. The set scores were 25-15,25-14, while in Kabaddi final, GHSS Panassa beat GHSS Channa by 16-12 and in Kho-Kho final, GHSS Arnas lost to GHSS Bharakh by 13-15
In Wrestling, 46-50 Kg, Vipan Singh HSS Channa beat Rashpal Singh by 10-08; 50-55 Kg, Deepak Jagotra HSS Katra got the better of Badier Singh HSS Gota; 60-66 Kg, Karnail Singh HSS Katra defeated Ravinder Singh HSS Gota by 8-6 and in 66-74 Kg, Mangal Singh HSS Panthal prevailed over Ravinder Singh HSS Reasi by 10-08.
Meanwhile, the Inter-School District Level Competition of District Jammu in the disciplines of Weightlifting and Powerlifting Under-19 boys and girls got underway here today.
The Boxing, Basketball, Rope Skipping, Throw Ball and Softball events also commenced at MA Stadium, here.
The competitions are being organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports District Jammu under the supervision of Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu and the organizing Secretary of the event.
The Inter School weightlifting competition has been introduced for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir at the School Level. So, Inderpaul Singh, Weight Lifting Coach of J&K State Sports Council, Dayal Singh, Weightlifting Coach J&K Police Centre Team and Officials namely Taqdir Singh, Dhanraj Singh Slathia, Vishal Jamwal, Vishal Magotra and Vishal Singh are assisting the organizers.
Earlier, in 56 kg, Nirbhay Partap Singh of Vimal Public School got 1st place with 67 kg snatch and 90 kg Clean Jerk total of 157, while Abhinandan Dogra of Vimal Public School got 2nd place with 30 kg snatch and 40 kg Clean Jerk total of 70 kg and Ankush Manhas of Model Academy got 3rd place with 25 kg Snatch and 35 kg Clean Jerk total of 60 kg.
In 62kg, Manav Sharma of Shiv Public School got1st place with 45 kg Snatch and 57 kg Clean Jerk total of 102kg and Manpreet Singh of Wazir Janki Nath Public School got 2nd place with 40 kg Snatch and 57 kg Clean Jerk total of 97kg.
