Jairam Ramesh seeks early hearing on his plea regarding Aadhaar

NEW DELHI:  Senior Congress leader, Jairam Ramesh, today mentioned before the Supreme Court seeking its direction for an early hearing on his plea, challenging the introduction of Aadhaar Bill as a Money Bill in Parliament.

P Chidambaram, senior lawyer of the Supreme Court,  appearing for the senior Congress leader, Ramesh,  mentioned the matter before the apex court three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice (CJI) Dipak Misra, seeking early hearing into his case.

After hearing the mentioning by Mr Chidambaram, CJI Misra, said, “we have not yet read and gone through the landmark privacy judgement recently pronounced by the predecessor CJI, Jagdish Singh Khehar, and other judges, so you again mention the matter before us on Friday, then only, we would see and be in a position to say what can be done on the matter.”

Besides CJI Misra, the apex court’s other two judges in the three-judge bench were —  Justices Prafulla Chandra Pant and DY Chandrachud. (AGENCIES)
