Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Wrestling Inter-Zonal competitions get underway

JAMMU, Aug 30: District Level Inter-Zonal competitions in the sports disciplines of Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball and Wrestling Under-19 boys got underway at Govt HSS Domana today, while Jammu Zone will take on Gandhi Nagar Zone in Pool A final match of Under-19 boys cricket tournament at Parade ground, here tomorrow.
In all, 474 players drawn from various Govt/ Private Institutions of district Jammu are taking part in the competition. The main objective of these competitions is to select the teams in these disciplines for the upcoming competitions.
The competitions are being organized by the Department of Youth Services and sports District Jammu, under the patronage of Sheikh Fayaz Ahmed, Director Youth Services and Sports and under the chairmanship of Madan Lal, Joint Director Youth Services and Sports, Jammu, while Chanchal Kour, DYSSO Jammu is the organizing secretary of the competitions.
Earlier, at Parade ground in Cricket Under-19 boys, Jammu and Gandhi Nagar zones defeated their rivals convincingly and made it to the finals of Pool A, while at GGHSS Bakshi Nagar, Akhnoor zone emerged winner by getting the better of Marh zone in the summit clash in Pool B.
In Kabaddi Under-19 boys, Jammu-Dansal zones beat RS Pura-Miran Sahib zones by 18 points; Satwari-Gandhi Nagar zones drub Bishnah-Arnia zones by 24 points and Marh-Bhalwal zone trounced Khour-Chowki Choura zones by 21 points, while in Kho-Kho Under-19 boys, Jammu-Dansal zones defeated Gandhi Nagar zones by 1 point and Marh-Bhalwal zones prevailed over RS Pura-Miran Sahib zones by04 points.
In Volleyball Under-19 boys, Khour-Chowki Choura zones outplayed RS Pura-Miran Sahib zones (2-1) by (25-15, 16-25, 15-12) and Marh-Bhalwal zones outclassed Gandhi Nagar- Satwari zones by (2-1) by (11-25, 25-14, 15-09).
