JKP XI, Ishar XI script emphatic wins

JAMMU, Nov 3: Jammu and Kashmir Police XI and Ishar XI registered emphatic victories over their rivals to stay alive in the ongoing Eid-Diwali Milan Cup T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Police at MA Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the first match, JKP XI drubbed Doordarshan X1 by 7 wickets. Winning the toss and batting first, DD XI scored a modest total of 123 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 7 wickets. Riaz was the top scorer with 31 runs including 2 sixes and 1 boundary, while Bunty hit well made 30 runs in 28 balls. Rajinder contributed 12 runs to the total. Rajesh Gill and Sunil Sharma shared 2 wickets each, while Shamsher and Vishal captured 1 wicket each.
In reply, JKP XI chased the target in 11.3 overs, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Skipper Rajesh Gill and Amit Sharma gave the team a good start and hit boundaries from the word go. Amit Sharma scored unbeaten 54 runs with the help of 9 fours and one six, while Rajesh Gill hit well made 39 runs with 7 fours and 1 six. Farooq also made 15 runs with 2 boundaries.
For DD XI,  Rajesh Singh took 2 wickets and Riaz claimed one wicket.
Amit Sharma of JKP XI was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant knock of 54 runs.
Meanwhile, in another match played today, Ishar XI trounced HPCC XI by 6 wickets in a close contest. Batting first, HPCC XI scored 122 runs in the stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Waseem was the top scorer with 29 runs, while Nadeem and Sajad contributed 19 and 13 runs respectively. For Ishar XI, Pavit, Sourav and Vishwajeet Singh took 2 wickets each.
In reply, Ishar XI chased the target in 19.3 overs by losing 6 wickets, thus won the match by 4 wickets. Shubam Khajuria scored 38 runs with 4 boundaries and 1 six, while Puri and Amrit scored 31 and 16 runs  respectively.
Habib took 2 wickets for HPCC, while Sahil and Sajad shared a wicket each. Shabum of Ishar XI was adjudged man of the match for his brilliant knock of 38  runs.
The matches were officiated by Sandeep, Harbinder Singh and JD Singh as umpires, while Yogesh acted as scorer.
