Man injured in attack by leopard

DODA, Sept 1: A 22-year-old villager was today injured in an attack by a leopard in Marmat forest belt of Doda district in Jammu and Kashmir, the police said.
Imtiaz Ahmed was attacked by the leopard near his house at Rachoo Goha village in Marmat area, 31 km from Doda town.
“When Ahmed came out of his house to answer nature’s call, the feline pounced on him. He raised an alarm and his family members and neighbours ran out to help,” DSP Headquarters Doda Iftkhar Ahmed said.
He was rushed to Goha primary health centre for treatment.
The police officer said the Wildlife Department was requested to capture the beast.
This is second such attack in less than 24 hours in Doda. Yesterday, a forest guard was seriously injured when a leopard attacked him outside his house at Khutyara village in Bhalla tehsil.
The police said man-animal conflict in the area has increased.
Last year, two persons were killed and 25 injured in bear and leopard attacks in this part of Chenab Valley.
