JAMMU, Sept 9: Member Parliament, Jugal Kishore Sharma today flagged off a Bike Expedition to spread message of Peace & explore Unseen Tourist Destinations of Jammu region, here from Golf Course.
The MP applauded the undiluted efforts of Tourism Department for organizing the expedition for the promotion of tourism in the region and spreading the message of peace and brotherhood.
“Jammu has immense potential and such initiatives will enable to bring virgin tourist destinations on the tourism map of the state and expand the transport industry in the region,” he said.
The MP asked the bikers to act as ambassadors to promote the charismatic beauty of Jammu region.
He said that more such exploratory expeditions are needed to be organized to project Jammu as a leisure and adventure tourism destination.
The MP said promotion of tourism in the state is the top priority of government and several potential places are being developed to attract tourists to Jammu region.
Around 84 men and women bikers from Jammu, Punjab and Chennai are the part of the weeklong expedition. The Bikers headed by Rahul Gupta, the winner of Wranglers True Wanderer, will explore various tourists destination of Jammu while travelling through Surinsar, Mansar, Basholi, Sarthal, Bhaderwah, Kishtwar, Gulabgarh and Patnitop.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Tourism, Jammu Smita Sethi said that the tourism department has made elaborate arrangements for the bikers along with the expedition route and a team of the department is also accompanying the bikers en-route.
Deputy Director Publicity Tourism, Showkat Mehmood, Deputy Director Tourism, Subah Mehta & Secretary Golf Course Manav Gupta besides senior functionaries of Tourism Department were present at the flag off ceremony.
