Media wins friendly match by narrow margin

SRINAGAR, Nov 4: In a unique initiative of its kind, Chinar Corps and Media jointly played a cricket match here at Badami Bagh Cantonment here today. The match was won by team mostly represented by media persons.
The match of first of its kind was played amidst the huge gathering of media, army men and officers. The match was played in unison and players from both army and media were divided in two teams to make balanced teams same on the pattern of Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Team (B) mostly represented by media men got an electrifying start after they won the toss and elected to bat first after properly assuming the conditions of the wicket.
In first power play, both the openers of team B gave a strong start to their team and outplayed the opponents after scoring 36 in just three opening overs, however they lost the first wicket of Zahid.
The team B opener, Lt. Majumdar played a tremendous knock of 96 runs by hitting 14 fours and 3 sixes. He remained not out. In the total allotted 15 overs, the team B scored 171 runs.
In reply team (A) Chinar Corps scored 162 runs to lose the match by 9 runs.
