JAMMU, Sept 12: Diamond Cricket Club and Khour Cricket Club registered convincing wins over their rivals and entered into the next round of the ongoing ‘state Cricket Academy T20 Championship’, being played at MA Stadium here.
The Cricket tournament for the young cricketers in which 24 teams from Jammu and are participating is an initiative of the State Cricket Academy and is being organized by J&K State Sports Council.
SSP Rajesh Sharma, Staff Officer to IGP Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion, who was introduced with the players.
Earlier, in the first match, Diamond Cricket Club defeated Eleven Star by 12 runs.
Batting first, Diamond Club scored 169 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 20 overs, with Minkel (59), Chander (32) and Parveen (20) being the main scorers. Vicky took 2 wickets while Ravi, Sunny, Irshad and Sahil took 1 wicket each.
Eleven Star Club, in reply, made 157 runs, thus lost the match by 12 runs. Aqib, Sahil and Rohit scored 59, 30 and 24 runs respectively. Gurvinder bagged 3 wickets, while Shannu took 2. Minkel was adjudged as the man of the match and was presented a cash prize of Rs 500.
In second match, Khour Cricket Club defeated Singh Akhnoor by 4 wickets. Singh Akhnoor scored 118 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 16 overs, with Jatinder (35), Rahul (25) and Ravi (15) being the main scorers.
From Bowling Side, Ragu and Rishap took 2 wickets each, while Rahul and Muna claimed 1 wicket each.
Khour Club chased the target in 15 overs for 6 wickets, thus won the match by 4 wickets. Rahul, Amit and Pintu scored 34, 30 and 26 runs respectively. Sunil took 3 wickets, while Sham Singh took 2 wickets, Nirbay also claimed 1 wicket. Rahul was declared as the man of the match and received a cash prize of Rs 500.
